Located in Eskilstuna, Sweden, our eco-friendly warehouse employs solar panels to fulfill 30%-50% of its energy requirements. In 2010, Sportamore began its journey. It all started in a dark basement space of 955 square meters, with small windows covered by iron bars on only one wall. This space served both as an office and a warehouse, accessible through a garage door (where snow would seep in during winter), filled with shoe boxes even in the oven and sauna, as storage options were extremely limited. Arriving at work only to find yourself surrounded by shoes became routine.
The original idea was to revolutionize the way people bought sports gear. While sports retail was booming, with people increasingly interested in dressing up for their activities, the online sphere hadn't caught up yet. Since the beginning, Sportamore's success has been fueled by teamwork, evident even in the basement in Solna.
"We'll never make it," we often heard throughout the years. Initially, many were skeptical about buying shoes online, insisting they needed to be tried on in a physical store first. This led us to pioneer free shipping and returns on all purchases in Sweden. We've always strived to minimize friction in the buying process, prioritizing customer service and speedy delivery. Our goal has always been to make customers love shopping at Sportamore.
When Sportamore started, there was a five-year plan to conquer Sweden. Two and a half years in, we felt it was working, we were on the right track. Seeing similar potential in other Nordic markets, we decided to expand to three new countries: Norway, Finland, and Denmark. Today, we operate in 24 markets and support 18 different languages.
