One of the great advantages of galon is that it is such an easy to care for material, wipe off any dirt with a cloth and then hang the garment to dry. Photo: Press image / Didriksons

Since galon clothes are shell garments that the child can wear on top of a jacket and cover pants or on top of a mid-layer, it is smart to buy a slightly larger size to extend the life of the garment.

- Galon garments automatically become slightly oversized. This is because the seams of the garment are welded and this limits the possibilities of making angles on the shape of the garment. The welded seams are waterproof but do not allow the garments to have the extremely good freedom of movement, so it is also good to buy garments in a slightly larger size, says Ulf Bourghardt, brand manager at Didriksons.

What details are important?

- On trousers, there should be foot straps that hold the legs in place over the rubber boots. Tops and bottoms should be reflective and the hood should be removable with snap fasteners for safety.

Should I buy unlined galoshes or fleece-lined galoshes?

- It depends. One doesn't negate the other, and a fleece-lined galoshes is obviously warmer and something you want in early fall and spring. But if you buy an unlined brace, you can use it all year round depending on what you have as a mid-layer and it will therefore be more useful.

How many sets of galoshes should I have?

- You can keep it simple and have one pair of galoshes at the nursery that always hangs there. Then you can choose whether you want to have a set of galoshes and a galoshes jacket at home or whether you choose to bring the galoshes home from preschool at the weekend.

The gown is broken, can I fix it?

- Yes, you can. We provide a repair kit that you buy from us. It consists of a film that you put on top of the tear and then iron it onto the garment. You should definitely not sew the braid as it will leak.
