Are you aiming to run a race this year? Or maybe you do it every year? Do you want to run a race with friends because it's fun, or are you going to smash your own personal best in a marathon? Whether you're a happy everyday exerciser or an elite runner, there's a race for you! Here are some worth checking out throughout the year.
Around the world: Stadion Marathon
Time and place: January 18, Stockholm Stadion.
Distance: Marathon (4.2 miles), half marathon (2.1 miles) and 10 kilometers.
Details: You run around the stadium, either 14 or 28 laps. Runners born in 2003 or earlier are welcome to run the full and half marathon. There is no age restriction on the 10 kilometer course.

Run on ice: Sollentuna Winter 21 km
Time and place: February 15, Edsvik konsthall, Sollentuna.
Distance: 21 kilometers.
Details: This is one half of the Sollentuna Summer Winter Marathon. The race goes on and around the ice of Edsviken in Sollentuna. The second half is run on August 29 at the same location. If you run with a friend, you get a two-piece medal when you have crossed the finish line.

Color and party: Color Obstacle Rush
Time and place: Malmö May 9, Gothenburg May 16, Jönköping May 23, Norrköping May 30, Örebro June 6, Västerås June 13, Stockholm June 27.
Distance: 5 kilometers.
Details: Color Obstacle Rush is a fun race with an obstacle course, foam and color powder. The color powder you have to throw at yourself or others, it will be colorful and fun! The race arrangeras in seven different supports around Sweden. There is also no timing, so you can just as well walk or dance your way through the entire course!

Around Gothenburg: Göteborgsvarvet
Time and place: May 16, Gothenburg.
Distance: Half marathon, i.e. about 21 kilometers.
Details:As the name suggests, Göteborgsvarvet runs around Gothenburg. The course is 21,097.5 meters to be exact and over 60,000 runners ran the race last year, making it one of the largest long-distance races in the world.

The classic: Stockholm Marathon
Time and place: May 30, Stockholm.
Distance:Marathon, i.e. approximately 4.2 miles.
Details: With the start and finish at Stadion in Stockholm, the Asics Stockholm Marathon is a classic race that many people dream of completing. Everyone who finishes the race receives a medal, an Asics shirt, goodie bag, diploma and perhaps best of all: a hot shower.

Who run the world: Tjejmilen
Time and place: August 29, Gärdet, Stockholm.
Distance: 10 kilometers
Details: Tjejmilen is a race party for girls and women of all ages, catering to all runners. You can choose a timed run or a fun run, which means you get through the race in peace and quiet. Run, cut, jog, walk. The most important thing is that you have fun!

Gigantic off-road race: Lidingöloppet
Time and place: September 25-27, Lidingö outside Stockholm.
Distance: 30 kilometers
Details:Lidingöloppet is an event for the whole family. During three days you can, depending on which start group suits you, run challenging off-road races. Most starts are on September 26. Lidingöloppet is the world's largest off-road race.

Unleash your inner animal: Tjurruset!
Time and place: October 3, Stockholm.
Distance: 5 or 10 kilometers.
Details: A fun off-road race where you get to run up hills, muddy marshes and wet swamps. Kalvruset, which is for girls and boys between 9 and 15 years old, has the same setup, but you run 3 kilometers instead of 5 or 10.

For the night owl: Midnattsloppet
Time and place:Stockholm August 15, Helsinki August 29, Malmö September 5, Gothenburg September 12.
Distance: 10 or 5 kilometers.
Details: The unique feature of Midnattsloppet is the late start time. The race has a festival feel, and is about you as a runner having as much fun as possible. The race is organized in four cities in Sweden and Finland during August and September. The entry fee includes timekeeping, live tracking and a participant shirt from Adidas.

Great race in the middle of the city: Stockholm Half Marathon
Time and place: September 5, Stockholm.
Distance: 21 kilometers.
Details:Both elite runners and recreational runners participate in the Stockholm Half Marathon. You run in the middle of the city and start and finish at the Royal Palace, the Parliament House and the Opera House. Come as you are and have a great day!
