The Multiliner - The jacket everyone should have
No, it's not a denim, leather or rain jacket. We are of course talking about the multi-liner! The thin down or synthetic jacket that is a lifesaver all year round.
As a Scandinavian, a jacket is a must regardless of the season. Although many summer evenings can be warm and lovely, a warming layer is usually needed if you want to sit outside late at night. If you don't already have one, it's time to get one asap.
A wind- and water-resistant outer layer in down or synthetic works just as well on chilly summer evenings as it does in spring and fall, or as a mid-layer in winter. It's also easy to take a multiliner with you because it's lightweight and packs up easily. In other words, you get a lot of use for your money if you buy a good quality liner jacket.
DOWN OR SYNTHETIC?
In general, there are two different types of insulation to choose from: synthetic or down.
The first option is more animal-friendly and synthetic options will not be as bulky and heavy as down tends to be in contact with moisture. Down, on the other hand, is known to provide great warmth and a fluffier feel. In relation to its weight, the warmth is unbeatable as long as you don't get wet.

On the down front, the Helium Hood Jacket from Peak Performance is a safe investment. It's warm enough for a winter day with a solid base layer underneath, but thin enough to work on a cold summer evening.
Theresia from 8848 Altitude is a liner stuffed with Primaloft.
When it comes to synthetics, polyester is a common material to stuff liner jackets with. Didriksons Rima Jacket is an example of a warm, lightly quilted jacket with polyester padding that is perfect for chilly summer evenings.
8848 Altitude this jacket uses the synthetic material Primaloft, which is a more technical alternative to down and polyester. Primaloft is warm and breathable, it doesn't smell and, unlike down, it works even when wet.
TheEssens Mimic Hood from Haglös is insulated with QuadFusion Mimic.
Some brands have developed their own synthetic insulations. Haglöfs QuadFusion Mimic is a synthetic lining material that provides good warmth while being light, durable and wind resistant. It consists of tiny little balls that mimic the properties of down but are much more resistant to moisture. You'll find this in the Haglöfs jacket Essens Mimic Hood, available for both men and women.
Whether you choose synthetic or down, we certainly have a jacket that suits you. HERE you will find more thin yet warm jackets for both women and men.
